1. Summer Art Institute:
Ages 13 – 18 June 30
& July 2, 7 & 9: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Regis. deadline: 6/16) For students interested
in a career in art: class critiques and discussions with professional
artists on strengthening your fine or commercial art portfolio. Topics will
include painting, drawing, photography and design. Bring a selection of your
work on the first day of class. Members: $125/4
days, non-members: $135/4 days
2. Pirate Art Camp*: Ages 8 – 12 Monday, July
7 – Friday, July 11: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Regis. deadline: 6/23)
Avast, me hearties,
there be pirates on the good ship Noyes. Make a figurehead for your fine
ship & hoist a “jolly roger” flag. Carve soap scrimshaw & tie knots for a
knotboard. Design a treasure map, make pieces of eight & store them all in a
treasure chest. Keep track of your daring deeds in a Captain's log. Members:
$140/week, non-members: $150/week
3. Art by the Lake*: Ages 6 – 12 Monday, July
14 – Friday, July 18: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Regis. deadline: 6/30) A week of fun & exciting
hands-on art projects focusing on self-expression: plaster sculptures, a
group mural, artsy hats of your
own design, funky self-portraits, adinkra
cloth printed pillows & inspired mobiles. Members: $140/week,
non-members: $150/week
4. Styles of the Masters*: Ages 8 and up
Monday, July 21 – Friday, July 25: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Regis. deadline:
7/7) Do you have a favorite
artist? Maybe you like Van Gogh's Starry Night, or you'd want to
smell one of Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers. Ever wonder how they made their
famous paintings? We'll examine the techniques that contributed to each
artist's signature style. Then we'll use those techniques to create
impressive works of art. Artists include Monet, van Gogh, O'Keeffe and some
surprises! Members: $140/week,
non-members: $150/week
5. Mask-Making Camp: Ages 7 and up Monday
July 28 – Wednesday, July 30: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Regis. deadline: 7/14)
Three days creating
masks with Puerto Rican storyteller & folk artist Amil Droz. Basing your design on folklore or your
imagination, build durable masks in papier-mâché using wild & crazy colors
for the finishing touch. Members: $95/3 days, non-members: $105/3
days
